What are these words? why I am thinking about them now?

We have heard our elders repeatedly lecturing about these words to us when we were kids. At that time, it was really tough to understand what they meant? Why were they insisting about them? Don’t you all agree?

Let me take you all back two decades in my journey of life. I was a college freshout, newly married, ready to start my life Journey along with my husband who was working in US - Horsham, Pennsylvania a beautiful city, my first place to live in US. New place, new food, new culture…everything looked new and I was clueless because back home I was a girl who hadn’t seen outside world a lot. So, it was bit uncomfortable to move along. With blessings, the days went on.

Everyone at some point of your life time might have faced challenges.  The first challenge we met in my life journey was during my first pregnancy. During the pregnancy time, we will be asked to take multiple tests and ultrasounds to check whether you are having a healthy pregnancy or to monitor the unborn baby inside or to check whether your uterus is healthy. Like that, in my first trimester, doctor gave us OPTION to take this screening test. It’s called First Trimester Prenatal Screaming Test. I have given the link below which gives you the complete information about this test.

Let’s see how accurate these test results are.

According to mayoclinic.org, this

Prenatal screening isn't perfect. The rate of inaccurate results, known as false-negative or false-positive results, varies from test to test.”

Similarly, blog.uofmhealth.org states that although these results can help families make informed decisions, the tests aren’t perfect. Blood-based screening tests cannot say with certainty that a baby is affected, a deficit that can be difficult to handle during pregnancy.

When we had our results, the doctors told that the baby might be born with down syndrome. We were confused, shattered and worried. After through analysis, we took the right decision. Our baby was born blessed and healthy. For my second pregnancy, I know that I have to say no to these tests and am blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby as well.

During the pregnancy period, women’s who are carrying their unborn child will have so much of questions in their mind like are we eating well, how is the baby inside, is the baby healthy etc., Its perfectly fine to think that way. To get those questions cleared, always it’s a good thing to read and understand from various sources. And know about the various tests that are provided during that time before going for them. Understand the test’s capacities, risks and limitations.

All the best and good luck to everyone. Always believe in youself and you will be able to make right decision.
